Eden Handivan Donation Program
Eden Handicap Service Centre provide free services to people with disabilities in the community. Since our establishment, we have served more than 600 disabled people and at present have approximately 70 disabled in our care.
Among the services we provide is the Children Hostel where free residential care, rehabilitation training and educational program are available to disabled children. To date, we have 18 children with different type of disabilities from various backgrounds. Every day we transport them to school, activities, to receive medical treatment at the General Hospital and for recreation. Most of our children are wheelchair-bound and due to the severity of their disabilities, they are not able to climb from their wheelchair into the vehicle without assistance. Thus, they are carried by our staff into the vehicle. However, due to the weight involved, our staff risks spinal injury. Currently, we have only a car and have to make several trips to transport these disabled children to the various destinations for their daily activities.
Eden Handicap Service Centre urgently needs to acquire one (1) twelve-seater handivan specially equipped with wheelchair lift that will be easily assessable to wheelchair-bound children. The price of the van is approximately RM150,000.00. Thus far, we have raised about RM30,000.00 and still have a shortage of RM120,000.00.
We therefore appeal for your support and contribution by sponsoring one unit of the handivan to this worthy cause. The opportunities for people with disabilities will be further enhanced through your generosity.
