A Movie Treat at GSC, Gurney Plaza
Awaiting to go into the cinema
As early as 6.15pm on Friday the 11th of April 2008, some of our disabled friends has gathered at the 7th Floor of Gurney Plaza in the vicinity of the Golden Screen Cinema (GSC) pavilions. By 7.00pm, we have 35 people comprising children and adults with various disabilities waiting patiently at the entrance. You could see their excitement and the sparkle in their eyes as they sauntered into the cinema hall.
You could hear the children chatting and whispering to one another as they began to sit down comfortably in the cool air-conditioned hall. Hands were quickly stretched out as hotdogs, popcorns and pepsi-cola drinks were being served by the caregivers and helpers. Sounds of chewing the popcorns and the sounds of straw sucking the drinks were heard across the hall.
Next as the hall lights dimmed, the show has begun. The movie entitled "Waterhorse" was supported by many advertisements and thrillers. The screen was large and the sound system was excellent. As the movie began and progressed, there was dead silence as our disabled friends quickly terminated whatever conversation they had. It was only the sound from the movie we could hear. It was a monster of a movie of how a young boy befriended a little "waterhorse" which was birthed from an egg he had collected from the seashore. He took care of it and it grew very fast into a huge monster. There were lots of dramatic action after action. Some of them were sitting at the edge of the seats. Some of them watched not only with their eyes wide opened but also with their mouths opened too!
When the movie ended, there were some sad looks on the faces. Yes, how they wished that the movie would never end!
