On 28 August, 2006, a team of 20 mentally challenged trainees and staff visited a fire station and a police station in Penang. This is part of an educational tour.
The trainees were amazed and their excitement could be noticed as they stepped into the fire station. They were delighted with the opportunity to wear the fire fighter's attire and the use of the fire extinguisher. Their excitement was apparent as they boarded the fire engine as it was a first-time experience for them.
The chief of the fire station gave a tour and explained their job functions and demonstrated the proper care, safety and the correct way of using the equipment. This was indeed a memorable day for the trainees.
As for the police station, the Inspector gave an overview of their protocols and their responsibilities to protect the people in the country. All together, these brought forth a good education and awareness to the trainees.
