Eden Barbeque and Campfire for the Disabled
Dear Wonderful People,
For many disabled people, the quest for outdoor recreation is just as strong as it is for able-bodied folks.
Countdown year 2006 Campfire/BBQ and bungalow stay was organized first time by Eden Fellowship Committee on 31st December 2006 to 1st January 2007 at the Stella Marris Holiday Apartment in Tanjung Tokong, Penang for the disabled in the community. It was participated by 70 disabled people, volunteers and staffs.
Imagine shoreline feasts and music-filled and games nights by a campfire under dessert stars. The weather was kind to us except for the high tide which forced us to shift to the high grounds. An ice breaking activity kicked off the agenda for the day followed by the performance and BBQ/Campfire. Each unit participated in the Inter-unit Performance Competition. Bravo ! The Training unit for the intellectually and physically disabled was the champion. Five minutes before the clock struck 12:00am, everyone was writing their year 2007 resolution. At 12:00pm, a display of fireworks to usher the new year and there was excitement and anticipation.
Some stayed throughout the morning chit chatting or sleeping under the sky. They left the Holiday Apartment the next day at 11:00am with lots of memory.
