Our First Outing Experience With People With Disabilities
(Movie at GSC and dinner at Paddington House of Pancake in Queensbay Mall in Penang)

My wife Grace and I are very thankful to Eden for granting us the rare opportunity of having people with various disabilities as company on Saturday, 15 September 2007 at Queensbay Mall, Penang.

This is one experience which we shall cherish and never forget. I was given the task of looking after two intellectually-challenged men and another man with a disabled right hand. While I was walking with them, it saddened me that other shoppers looked at us strangely and quickly got out of our way. I had nothing to be ashamed of as I continued walking with them.

When we arrived at the reception, I was moved with compassion and pity at the sight of so many people with different types of disabilities. My wife and I were touched to see young disabled children. We sprang to action by trying to communicate and play with the little ones. We were able to get along well with the disabled children as shown by their warm response. These little ones are so well mannered and polite by calling us uncle and aunty. We could sense that these little angels needed tons of patience and love. Kudos to the Children Hostel's staff and caregivers for their patience, perseverance and diligence.

What touched us further was the dedication and humility shown by the unit heads by serving these disabled people their dinner at Paddington House of Pancakes. This dinner was specially sponsored by Ms. Susan Cheah. These disabled people may have wondered and marveled at such large sumptuous meals which they may rarely have and you bet that the meals were quickly gobbled up.

At the end of the day, you could see the glow on the faces of these disabled people. The joy was unspeakable. Just seeing them smile spelled great satisfaction of a job well done. The staff showed immense dedication and are focused in serving these people with disabilities and this really motivated and encouraged us.

Thank you Eden for showing concern for the unfortunate.
Thank you Eden for remembering the needy.
Thank you Eden for feeding them.
Thank you Eden for providing for them.
Most of all thank you Eden for the compassion, love and care for them.
When no one cares, you do.
